‘Rosa Nobes cottage’

I was inspired by the story of Rosa Nobes and her role as a motherly figure to the Fairbridge Kids. Rosa was an English pre-emigration foster mother and was described by a Fairbridge boy as the only real mother he ever had. I could just imagine the children sitting on Rosa Nobles rug in front of the fire on a cold winters night reading the newspapers she’d supplied. As I walked into the room I immediately visualised a Van Gogh inspired representation using vivid colours, thick paint and emphasising the structures within the room.
